SUPERVALU Foundation and EESC hosts Will Steger and Don Shelby for
Discussion of Steger's Ellesmere Island Trip and Global Climate Change

SUPERVALU’s Enterprise Environmental Steering Committee (EESC) and ValuEarth are pleased to have welcomed Steger and Shelby to the Valley View Office of SUPERVALU.  During the event, Steger shared footage from his expedition with a crowd of over 150, followed by a discussion session where Steger and C.E.O. Jeff Noddle answered from Shelby and audience members about global climate change.

Will Steger's Ellesmere Island Expedition involved a 62 day trip by dog-sled up the west coast of Ellesmere Island.  Steger was joined by six 20-somethings and a few sled-dog teams on his mission to document the effects of global climate change.  On Friday, he shared his finding from the trip,  suggesting that global climate change is significantly affecting the region.  From broken off ice shelves traveling down the channels of the arctic and creating choppier ice along the coast to an early spring thaw, Steger, an experienced traveler of this region, was able to identify numerous signs of change.

Steger's exedition was sponsored in part by SUPERVALU's EESC, ValuEarth and wild harvest.  More information about the details of this trip can be found at GlobalWarming101 and our Will Steger Page.
